THE STUDY PROGRAM OF ARCHITECTURE
The study program of Architecture in Itenas excels in applying architectural science based on sustainability on the aspects of urban/suburban environment, local wisdom, building engineering technology by using the latest environmentally friendly technology, and entrepreneurship which is concerned with international concepts by highly supporting humanity values.
Currently, this program has 23 teaching staff whose titles are Ph.D. and masters. The learning process in this program is supported by 5 (five) studios/laboratories. Those studios and laboratories are the studio of architectural design, the studio of structure and construction, the laboratory of building physics, the laboratory of building material, and the laboratory of digital architecture. The process of learning in the studio for the third and fourth-year students have been applied in digital programs which use some software related to the architectural aspect.
– The graduates have specific characteristic of ‘engineering’ and skills in the field of building design by using the digital technology that make them fulfil the requirements which are needed by the market work. This quality is hoped to help them easily to get jobs in architectural field.
– The graduates of architecture program study are mostly involved in the field of architectural design in consultant bureaus located in Indonesia and abroad countries. Many of the graduates also become entrepreneurs who open the studios of architectural design.
– The construction work field is also a choice for the graduates of architectural program study of Itenas to do their profession. In this work field they work in projects, in state owned enterprises, in private companies or do their roles as contractors.
– The graduates of architecture program study also work as state civil apparatus in some regions in Indonesia.
The study program of architecture cooperates with Indonesian Architecture Organization (IAO) allowing the students who are doing their final project to join the competition for the final project award. This competition is judged by the national level judges from IAO and has also involved professional architects from Singapore and Malaysia since 2016. The students of the architecture study program accompanied by their lecturers also actively join Student Jamboree Architects Regional Asia which has been held since 2014. The students have won some design and scientific writing contests, individually or under the supervision of their lecturers. The affiliation with the Indonesian Architecture University Association makes it possible to develop the curriculum intensively. The partnership with industries and other universities can hold community services as one of the threefold missions that the lecturers must fulfill.
