Bring 3 Leadership Experts, A Forum for Itenas Leaders and Academicians: Transformational Leadership in Digital Era Was Held Offline in Itenas

To improve the leadership quality so that the management functions and objectives in educational institutions can be done, Itenas held a forum with the theme “Transformational Leadership in the Digital Era” on Saturday, 18th June 2022 at Bale Dayang Sumbi Itenas, Bandung. This Activity was attended by 86 structural officials and permanent lecturers at Itenas and 50 students from the student union and student activity unit.

Present as speakers, i.e. Dr. Iwan Inrawan Wiratmadja (Head of the Dayang Sumbi Itenas Education Foundation), Danang Rizki Ginanjar, S.T., MBA. (Advisor PINA Center for Private Financing), and Dr. (HC) Ignasius Jonan, MA, CPA, CA. (President Commissioner and Independent Commissioner of PT. Anabatic Technologies, Tbk.). The materials presented by the three speakers were very interesting and motivated the Itenas leaders, lecturers, and students to improve their competencies and leadership qualities, both as lecturers and as a part of Itenas management.

In her speech, Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D. told her hope, which is by joining this event, the Itenas leaders, lecturers, and students can absorb the knowledge and experience from all the speakers, thus they can be a good leader who has a character, and trustworthy.

The first session started with the presentation about “Leadership towards Excellent Itenas 2030: Serving the Nation, Taking a Role in the Global Level”, which was presented by Mr. Dr. Iwan Inrawan Wiratmadja. In his presentation, he said that a leader is a person that can influence others to act toward the attainment of certain goals.

“Transformational leadership is a process of strengthening each other between the leaders and followers to the stage of higher morality and motivation”, he added. The first session became so interesting after all the participants were enthusiastic to fill out some questionnaires related to leadership.

The second session was continued with the presentation about “Transformational Leadership in the Digital Era” from Danang Rizki Ginanjar, S.T., MBA. This session was as interesting as the first one. Materials were brought interactively. According to Danang, a leader in the digital era must have four criteria. The first one is Agile (Leader always knows new trends based on technology and improving self-capacity), the second one is Encouraging (Has the ability to influence and train other people to improve their self-capacity together), the third one is Innovative (A leader needs to keep innovating with technology and digital skills), and the fourth one is Adaptive (A leader who is easily adapt with technology).

For the third session, the speaker was Dr. (HC) Ignasius Jonan, MA, CPA, CA. Mr. Ignasius Jonan emphasized that leadership in the digital transformation era need to pay attention to some principles, such as hard work and how to treat human as “subjects” who think, wills, and feel; but still, enforce the rules and discipline that a leader should be able to provide work/examples/real evidence to their subordinates.
