Itenas’ Mechanical Engineering Major Along with Daya Motors Held a Joint Guest Lecture and Employee Hiring Event

Institut Teknologi Nasional (Itenas) Bandung’s Mechanical Engineering major in collaboration with PT Daya Anugrah Mandiri (Daya Motors) held a guest lecture titled “How to Successfully Manage Career as a Professional” followed by an employee hiring event on Friday (9/6/2023) in Room 15301 Gedung Rektorat Itenas. The event was also attended by Mr. Tri Sigit Purwanto, S.T., M.T. (head of Mechanical Engineering major) and Mr. Alfan Ekajati Latief, S.T., M.T. (head of Student and Alumni Affairs Bureau).
“We’re expressing our gratitude to Daya Motors which is pleased to share knowledge (in guest lecture) and opens up opportunities for students as well as alumni in the recruitment held. We would also like to thank the Student and Alumni Affairs Bureau for helping us hold this event,” Mr. Tri Sigit Purwanto said.
The material for the guest lecture was delivered by the Human Resources Department of Daya Motors, including Randy Moal (HRD Dept. Head), Vina (recruitment officer), and Silvi (development officer). In brief, the participants were introduced to Daya Motors as an automotive retail company, especially in the sales and maintenance of Honda motorcycles. On top of that, they were also introduced to the history, culture, organization, business branches, and human resources of the company.
Not only about the company itself, but Daya Motors also enlightened the participants about the industrial world that has different perspectives from the college one. Randy emphasized that every person must have a business mindset due to the profit-oriented company’s target. The HR department also sees the effort of employees to add value to the company, which affects their career growth. Arfien Maulana from the Aftersales Department (Itenas’ Industrial Engineering alumni) was also invited to share his experience working at Daya Motors. There also were Q&A and discussion sessions with students in the guest lecture.
To rise up the students’ enthusiasm, Daya Motors gave some prizes to anyone who answers the question correctly. The main prizes, which are 2 pieces of Honda Genuine Apparel, were given to participants who actively post instastories and tag @careers.dayamotor Instagram with the hashtag # DayaMotorGoesToITENAS.
Activities continued after the Friday prayers with employee hiring that was open to Itenas alumni and the public at the same location. The process itself was a psychological test and interview which lasts until 17.00 WIB using a knockout system for each sub-section of the test. In the end, 2-3 people will be selected to proceed to the final interview stage.
From the information said by Mr. Dana Yudana, A.Md. from the Itenas’ Career Development Center, this activity can take place because Daya Motors already has an account on the CDC Itenas website which makes it easier for companies to post job vacancies independently.
“Then CDC Itenas validates the job vacancies and after that, applicants can submit their applications through the system. We hope that the recruitment process will facilitate Itenas alumni and the public in getting a job,” he said.
According to Vina, who is the HR development officer of Daya Motors, Itenas was chosen as the location for the activity because Itenas has a Mechanical Engineering major whose quality is recognized in Indonesia. This is also supported by the Daya Motors head office which is in Bandung.
“Regarding the vacancies, we’re focusing on management trainee positions in the Head of Administration section. Then there are also positions for Branch Head, Workshop Head, and many other positions,” Vina said.
This activity will be expected to foster good relations between Itenas and Daya Motors for other collaborative activities in the future.
