A Cross-Border Presentation of Industrial Technology Innovation at “The 4th FoITIC 2023” Organized by FTI Itenas
The Faculty of Industrial Technology at Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung successfully organized the international seminar “The 4th Faculty of Industrial Technology International Congress (FoITIC) 2023” on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 12-13, 2023) at Gedung Fakultas Itenas. This edition, themed “Development of Multidisciplinary Science and Engineering for Enhancing Innovation and Reputation,” featured keynote speakers, and technology experts from the United States and several European countries.
The event began with remarks from Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D., the Rector of Itenas, who expressed that the convergence of various disciplines opens many opportunities, reshapes industries, and breaks down current scientific boundaries. She hoped that through this event, researchers would collaborate and act as pioneers in the field of industrial technology.
“In the era of connectivity and globalization, we must harness the power of multidisciplinary approaches to drive innovation and enhance academic and professional reputation,” said the Rector during the opening ceremony.
Further remarks were given by Mr. Jono Suhartono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology at Itenas. He mentioned that the complex and diverse challenges of the 21st century have exceeded specific disciplinary boundaries. “The 4th FoITIC 2023” provides an opportunity to explore emerging potentials by bridging gaps in various disciplines.
“We realize that innovation thrives when thoughts from various backgrounds come together, when scientists and various segments of society join forces to address complex challenges,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology.
During the keynote speakers’ sessions, experts shared their insights on the progress of multidisciplinary industrial technology over the past few years. In the first panel, Prof. Timotius Pasang (The Oregon Institute of Technology, USA) discussed “3D Metal Printing Application.” This was followed by a presentation from Dr. Eng. Mohammad Azis Mahardika (Itenas Bandung) on the topic “Innovation and Reputation: The Power of Multidisciplinary Science and Engineering in Enhanced Oil Recovery” in the second panel. In the third panel, Prof. István Farkas (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Science) delivered a lecture on “Use of Artificial Intelligence Methods for Modeling of Drying Processes” via Zoom.
After a break and the Dhuhr prayer, the presentations continued in the Itenas Smart Class Room in a hybrid format. The fourth panel invited Prof. Soteris Kalogirou (Cyprus University of Technology) to explain “Renewable Energy Systems: Current Status in the World and Prospects.” The last topic in the fifth panel featured Prof. Zuzana Hlavácová (Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra) discussing “Electrical, Rheologic Properties and Chemical Composition” and Dr. Wiacek Joanna (Institute of Agrophysics of The Polish Academy of Science) presenting “Discharge Flow from a Silo with Corrugated Wall.”
“The 4th FoITIC 2023” also included parallel sessions for dozens of participants presenting their research from various universities in Indonesia and abroad. These sessions took place in the Itenas Smart Class Room, divided into five rooms. Each researcher presented innovations and ideas in various industrial technology fields such as Information Technology (IT), Internet of Things (IoT), Sustainable Technology, and more.
The event concluded with a closing speech by Mr. Dani Rusirawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. (FoITIC initiator). He congratulated the successful organization of “The 4th FoITIC 2023,” which resulted in publications with 85% of the contributors from internal Itenas Bandung. He also expressed gratitude for the support from various international universities in making “The 4th FoITIC 2023” a success.
“Let us apply the spirit of the FoITIC event to increase our joint publications, which can also enhance our (university’s) reputation,” concluded Mr. Dani.
