The Handover Ceremony of the First Electric and Hybrid Three-Wheeled Vehicle in Indonesia from Itenas to Kodim 0618/Kota Bandung
As an implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridarma), particularly in the field of research, Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung (Itenas) conducted the handover of electric and hybrid three-wheeled vehicles to Komando Distrik Militer 0618/BS Kota Bandung. This event took place on National Heroes Day, Friday (10/11), at the Headquarters of Kodim 0618/BS on Jl. Bangka, Bandung. These electric and hybrid three-wheeled vehicles are the first of their kind in Indonesia.
Representatives from Itenas Bandung attending the event included Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D. (Rector), Mr. Tarsisius Kristyadi, Ph.D. (Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs and also the head of the vehicle development team), Mr. Dani Rusirawan, Ph.D. (Vice Rector for Planning, Innovation, and Partnership), Mr. Fahmi Arif, Ph.D. (Head of Innovation and Intellectual Property Management at LPPM Itenas), and five students from the Mechanical Engineering program.
The handover ceremony followed formal protocols. The signing and handover of the official document between Itenas Bandung and Kodim 0618/BS symbolized that the vehicles resulting from the innovation of Itenas Bandung’s academic community had been accepted by Kodim 0618/BS for operational use.
According to the Commander of Kodim 0618/BS, Colonel Inf. Donny I. Bainuri, S.Hub.Int., M.A.S.S.S., in his speech, this collaboration was established to rejuvenate the operational vehicles owned by Kodim 0618/BS. Approximately 5 units of vehicles modified by Itenas Bandung were transformed into electric and hybrid vehicles.
“We express our gratitude for the tangible work created by Itenas Bandung students. This significantly supports operational efficiency and optimizes the implementation of the TNI’s main tasks that require mobility,” said Dandim 0618/BS.
Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D., the Rector of Itenas Bandung, also expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the Indonesian National Army (TNI AD), especially Kodim 0618/BS. She hoped that Itenas Bandung and Kodim 0618/BS would continue to collaborate in other activities.
“Itenas Bandung is ready to assist and engage in creating innovations to support the main tasks of the TNI AD, especially in Kodim 0618/BS, in facing rapid and dynamic changes,” said the Rector of Itenas.
For information, the modified vehicles by Itenas are equipped with a Brushless DC motor with a power of 2000 Watts, an electric voltage of 72 Volts, and a battery capacity of 60 Ah for electric vehicles. As for hybrid vehicles, the electrical specifications are the same as electric motors, with the addition of a tank for 4-stroke gasoline.
This collaboration is concrete evidence that Itenas Bandung not only engages in academic work but also contributes to the benefit of society. Hopefully, Itenas Bandung will continue to create other innovative and practical solutions for everyone.
