Head of Itenas Library Became One of the Judges in the Competition Held by FPPTI West Java Region
Forum Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia (FPPTI) Wilayah Jawa Barat held the Indonesian Academic Librarian Award (IALA) and Academic Library Innovation Award (ALIA) event on Tuesday (10/10/2023) at the Seminar Room of the Library of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. This biennial event carried the theme “Upscaling Academic Library Resources as a Strategy to Navigate the Post-pandemic Era, Digital Transformation and Society 5.0 in the Interconnected World” for the year 2023.
Representatives from the Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung Library also participated in the IALA-ALIA event in 2023. Mr. Agus Wardana, S.Sos., the Head of Itenas Library, had the honor of being the chairman of the jury board in the ALIA category. Together with team members from other university libraries, he conducted the selection and evaluation of portfolio documents and presentation of library innovations from each university.
From the assessments made by the jury board, the winners for the IALA category were Wawan Darmawan, M.I.Kom. from Universitas Kristen Maranatha (1st place), Lusi Satia Rahmawati, S.Sos. from Telkom University (2nd place), and Heri Bahtiar Saleh, M.I.Kom. from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (3rd place). Meanwhile, the winners in the ALIA category were the Library of Telkom University (1st place), the Library of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (2nd place), and the Library of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (3rd place). The first-place winners in each category will compete at the national level for IALA and ALIA on November 1-3, 2023.
The IALA and ALIA event organized by FPPTI, especially in the West Java region, was motivated by the significant developments in science and information technology that have a profound impact on university libraries. Libraries must be able to adapt to these developments. The innovations created by librarians are not only meant to support educational services but should also play an active role in community service. Through this event, it is hoped to stimulate the motivation of librarians and university libraries to continually produce innovations that have an impact on the academic community and the wider society.
