Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D., the Rector of Itenas, expressed in her remarks that Itenas is one of the best private campuses in Indonesia, accredited as “Excellent,” which signifies Itenas’ high-quality implementation of the three pillars of higher education. She believes that the graduates will become part of the solution to various societal issues.
She also highlighted the new policy regarding the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program related to the eight Main Performance Indicators (Indikator Kinerja Utama/IKU) that Itenas must achieve as an institution of higher education. She emphasized three of the eight indicators that should be collectively considered by the alumni.
“Alumni can contribute to IKU 1 (Graduates Obtain Decent Jobs) by securing decent jobs, engaging in entrepreneurship, or continuing their studies. For IKU 2 (Students Gain Experiences Outside Campus), if you have succeeded in your work and career, help your younger fellow students by providing internship opportunities for them. Also, IKU 4 (Practitioners Teach Within the Campus), at the right time, it is expected that you can share your career/entrepreneurial experiences to benefit your younger fellow students,” she explained.
The Higher Education Services Institute (Lembaga Layanan Pendidikan Tinggi/LLDIKTI) Region IV, represented by Mrs. Entin Hartini, S.Sos., M.Si. (Head of Student Affairs and Tracer Study), expressed high appreciation for Itenas’ achievements, including the “Excellent” accreditation. Among the 438 higher education institutions under LLDIKTI Region IV, only 7 received an “Excellent” accreditation, and 1 received an “A” accreditation. She also congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
“All of you need to have four soft skills in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Society 5.0, in line with the educational orientation in the 21st century, which are: 1) Creative and critical thinking skills, 2) Problem-solving skills, 3) Communication skills, collaboration, and understanding of the working field as well as career development, and 4) The importance of lifelong learning,” she advised the graduates.
“As products of the education process at Itenas, I am confident that all of you have been designed to become professional and competent experts in your field, with competencies beyond what society and the job market require. I believe you can adapt to the changing times,” she continued.
Itenas also extends its highest appreciation to teachers for their contributions to educating and guiding the nation’s future generations. On this occasion, Itenas invited Ms. Fanny Nishfiyati Iqlima, S.Pd., Gr., from SMK Negeri PU Bandung (Saturday session) and Ms. Giad Lenggo Geni, S.Pd., from SMAN 1 Bandung (Sunday session). The awards were presented by representatives of the graduating students and accompanied by the Rector of Itenas.
Throughout the year 2023, at least until now, Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung has achieved several prestigious accomplishments for its academic community. The Times Higher Education (THE) released the World University Rankings (WUR) list for the year 2024, and only 33 universities in Indonesia made it to the list. Itenas Bandung is among the universities listed in THE WUR 2024.
The collaboration established by Itenas Bandung with stakeholders in the Business and Industrial World (Dunia Usaha Dunia Industri/DUDI) demonstrates tangible evidence of wide career opportunities for its alumni. Coupled with one of the focal points of the MBKM program, which is internships, alumni are equipped with even more experiences to be better prepared for their contributions in the professional world.
