Itenas Inaugurates the First Cohort of Rekognisi Pembelajaran Lampau (RPL) Students
Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung held an event to welcome new students through the Recognition of Prior Learning (Rekognisi Pembelajaran Lampau/RPL) selection process on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Gedung Fakultas Itenas. The welcoming ceremony for the first batch of new students was attended by representatives from the Yayasan Pendidikan Dayang Sumbi and the board of Itenas leaders.
For this inaugural batch, Itenas Bandung welcomed 51 students, consisting of 16 students from the Civil Engineering major, 31 students from the Geodetic Engineering major, 2 students from the Informatics major, and one student each from the Chemical Engineering and Visual Communication Design majors. They come from diverse backgrounds of work experience and education.
Before entering the core process of inaugurating new students, Itenas Rector Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D., expressed gratitude for choosing Itenas as the place to continue their studies. She also stated that the extension, transfer, and evening/employee class programs would be merged into the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program.
“In its implementation (during lectures), it is hoped that students will continue to coordinate with the heads of majors and the board in the faculties. In addition, because many RPL program students also work simultaneously, time management is also important,” said the Rector of Itenas.
The welcoming and inauguration process for new students took place solemnly, with the symbolic donning of the alma mater jackets and the reading of the student pledge. The new students were introduced to the Itenas’ board of leaders, including the rector and vice rectors, deans and vice deans, bureau heads, and program chairs. Subsequently, they received a brief orientation about activities and academic plans from the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) and the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP).
Through the Recognition of Prior Learning program, it is hoped that more potential resources can be identified to pursue education to the highest level in line with the spirit of lifelong learning.
